Randburg Community raises R14000 for CANSA

Brightwater Commons extends a heartfelt thanks to all

The CANSA Shavathon at the Brightwater Commons had the tiniest tots, parents, teens and even dogs involved. It was a show of true camaraderie and community when Randburgers came out to shave and spray paint their hair for a good cause. Over a period of 6 hours, R14 000 was raised - that's over R2000 per hour!

"This is a cause so close to our heart as a centre, every year we do this event, come what may!", says Francois Du Buisson, Markeitng Manager of Brightwater Commons. This year, due to a lack of resources, Shavathon at the centre was almost cancelled but thanks to volunteers from the Randburg community who signed up to shave and spray paint hair, the event was held as planned. "Our surrounding community never disappoints us and we just want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who volunteered, donated and showed support".

It was an emotional but heartwarming day for Shelly Sardinha from Blairgowrie, who said, "I am living with cancer at the moment and watching everybody come out and support today has been phenomenal, I think everyone has had so much fun".
