The Green Lifestyle
Throw away your trash and be rewarded with a R100 000 in cash?
To celebrate the launch of the Brightwater Commons' Carbon Offsetting Program and to encourage its shoppers to take up the green challenge it was announced that the centre will give away R100 000 in cash in an innovative waste recycling campaign.
Kicking off on October 20 and running to December 31 the "The Green solution to your lifestyle blues" promotion will see one environment friendly shopper win a stash of cash for their trash in January, to help lift those post Christmas financial blues.
Aimed at assisting the community to contribute positively to a sustainable future and to offset Brightwater Commons' carbon emissions the centre will open a Green Bank were the public can open an "account ", deposit their waste for recycling and help save the planet.
A Green Bank Booklet will be issued to participants and a simple separated waste (not wet waste) deposit will activate the "client's account" and get the recycle ball rolling towards a possible R100K dividend.
"With two green bank branches, one situated at Adventure Golf and the other near the Spur, complete with tellers and customer care staff, banking your waste will be a breeze," says Francois du Buisson, Brightwater's marketing manager.
Deposits can either be made in plastic, paper, glass or tin with each deposit earning the Green Bank Booklet holder a credit stamp.
And being a bank, one will need to make withdrawals as well to qualify for the big prize. This will be done when the public makes a purchase, for R50 or more, at any of the centre's stores during the campaign. At least two visits each to the brand new Woolworths store (opening on October 23) and Pick n Pay is a requirement and stamps for purchases will be done in store.
Once an account holder's booklet is full, with all the necessary debit and credit stamps, it must be handed in to the Green Bank Manager before 5pm on December 31, 2008.
There is no limit to the number of completed bank booklets shoppers can enter and account holders must note that banking hours are weekdays from 9am to 5pm, Saturdays from 9am to 2pm and Sundays from 9am to 1pm.
All full books will be kept in the bank's vault until Brightwater's Chinese New Year celebrations in mid January 2009, when everyone's usually a little cash strapped and one lucky bank customer will be rewarded for their loyalty and contribution to a greener future by walking away a R100 000 richer!
