A FREE DAY OF FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Worldwide Free Comic Book Day Comes to Johannesburg with Comics for All Ages!

Saturday 2nd May is Free Comic Book Day - a day when comic book stores around the world will celebrate the comic book art form. Heroes at The Brightwater Commons will be joining this celebration with the hosting of various entertaining activities on the day. Whilst big screen TV's in store will show movies and soundtracks of comic book heroes, one can catch comic book artists in action on the grassy commons outside the store.

In keeping with the essence of this celebration, the store will be giving away comic books - three per adult and two per child. Younger children can have fun on a jumping castle and meet some of their favourite super heroes like batman, bat girl, superman, super girl and a host of others who'll roam the centre.

"The wide array of comic books being published today ensures that readers of all ages - children, teens, and adults - can find something appropriate that will stir their imaginations," said Andy Taoushiani of Heroes Comic Shop.

Now in its eighth year, Free Comic Book Day has proven to be a smashing success, spreading the word that comics are terrific reading. Free Comic Book Day will see over two million comics given away by participating stores worldwide - introducing as many people as possible to the wonders of comic books. "Even if you have never picked up a comic book, stop into Heroes, because you never know what you will end up finding."

"We at Heroes want to spread the word that comics are perfect for today's times, the wide array of comic books being published today ensures that readers of all ages - children, teens, and adults - can find something appropriate to stir their imaginations. Comic books have propelled to the front ranks of pop culture, many being adapted into movies for example "Wolverine" which hits the big screen on Friday 1st May. This first weekend of May is going to be a big day in the comic book world " according to Andy Taoushiani (of the Heroes Comic Store at The Brightwater Commons).
