Two Major Additions to Brightwater Commons

Owners of The Brightwater Commons, Fountainhead Property Trust, will be introducing two new outlets to the centre in the New Year. The first will be a Woolworths store and the second a Virgin Active Health Club. The two outlets will be located near the Ocean Basket entrance. Whilst construction of the Woolworths store has already begun, work on the Health Club is set to begin in January next year.

The area will comprise an upstairs mall and will house Virgin Active along with other satellite tenants. The mall entrance will be located adjacent to the parking from Cross Street (Entrance 4). Woolworths will ext on the lower level plus there are lifts and escalators, facilitating convenient access from on-grade parking to either tenant.

Woolworths

Opening in August 2008, the 2319 square meter Woolworths store will be situated on the ground level of the centre. Whilst Woolworths have a number of Food convenience stores in the area, there is a great demand from consumers for a broader retail offering from Woolworths in this location and this store will comprise a 500m2 food market and a 1200m2 fashion retail area.

Whilst the Woolworths Food section will offer patrons a selection of quality fresh produce, grocery products and convenience foods, the fashion retail area will sport the latest styles and accessories.

"We have been working on this opportunity for a long time and given the high degree of interest from customers in the area, we are delighted that a deal has now been possible. Brightwater has seen some major changes in recent times and we expect to see a renewed demand for space in the centre. Brightwater offers a unique, relaxed, family shopping environment with easy access and great parking and will offer customers a highly differentiated shopping experience. The new Woolies will offer a convenient range of fashion and food," says Woolworths Head of Real Estate, Paul Simpson.

The design and finishes of the store will be in line with the latest design trends and patrons can also expect extended trading hours.

Virgin Active

Life's going to be great when you get moving at the new Brightwater Virgin Active, which will soon occupy approximately 3631 square metres and both levels of the Brightwater Commons Shopping Centre.

The upper level of this exceptional new Health Club will host a state of the art spinning studio, a tranquil Mind/Body Studio with calming Pilates, yoga and Tai Chi classes, as well as a large studio where a wide range of Group Training classes will take place. Members will also be able to enjoy working out on Technogym treadmills that have integrated TV screens, exercise bikes and a Super Circuit, to name a few of the types of available equipment. After a great training session, members can enjoy a healthy snack at the Kauai Health Food and Juice Company, which is also on the upper level, along with complimentary Internet stations and a relaxation area.

Another great feature of Brightwater Virgin Active will be its kids' club-within-a-club, Club-V. Parents can work out in the Club, while their children can have fun and learn at the same time, under the expert care of the Club-V child minders. Some of the activities to keep the children entertained will include arts and crafts classes, age-appropriate fitness class, thrilling adventure circuits and a Playstation arena. Club-V will also be located in the upper level of the Club.

The lower level of Brightwater Virgin Active will have a pristine 25 metre, 5-lane heated indoor swimming pool. There will also be male and female change rooms with lockers on this level, along with relaxing saunas and steam rooms, where members can de-stress after a tough day at the office.

Glass facades will allow natural light into the Club, creating a bright and airy atmosphere, and also giving members an exquisite view of the serene park-like commons while they are exercising or swimming. The entrance to the Club will be located on the upper level of the shopping centre, and can be accessed via a covered walkway leading directly from the parking area, or alternatively from the lower ground level via a set of escalators, a lift or stairs.

Says Anton Brown, National Marketing Manager of Virgin Active South Africa: "Fitness enthusiasts can look forward to a world-class Exercise and Wellness facility, where no expense will been spared in ensuring that our member's feel great while they train with us at Brightwater Virgin Active".

Says Chris Beehan, Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for Brightwater Commons, "We are delighted at the inclusion of these two new tenants. This will bring to completion the refurbishment concept initiated in 2001 with a major retailer and complimentary mall located at each end of the centre. We believe this will add momentum to the leasing drive for the last 3500 m2 still to be let and will greatly stimulate mid week trade at the centre".

The opening of these two outlets at The Brightwater Commons is certain to give health conscious shoppers at the centre something to look forward to in the New Year.
