Motorcycle Toy Run 2007

Bikers are invited to be a part of the Motorcycle Toy Run on Sunday 25th November. The meeting venue for those residing in the northern and western suburbs of Johannesburg is the The Brightwater Commons. Motorcyclists can meet in the parking area at the Republic Road entrance of the centre. Departure to the NuPay Park will be at 9:15am. All that is required for entry into this exciting event is a licensed roadworthy motorcycle and a toy for charity.

The annual motorcycle toy run, in its 25th successive year of running, has come to be known as South Africa's largest charity event. The objective of Toy Run is for each participant to donate one or more toys, to make Christmas a little brighter for children of all ages and races in orphanages, shelters, homes and hospitals in our communities. It is a day when South Africa's loudest minority opens its heart to our most silent.

Bikers, all bearing toys, will gather at various departure venues across Gauteng and depart for the NuPay Park in large eye-catching processions. Once at the Park, they'll deposit their toys for sorting and distribution by Round Table, Lions, Rotary, Rotary Ann's & Rotoract, the Salvation Army, and Ladies Circle.

Says Sean Fine (Chairman of Toy Run), "We expect well over 18,000 motorcycles to take part again in this year's Johannesburg run, and motorists are invited to decorate their cars as well and join in the fun - which is for a great cause". Toy Run is a national event, with runs being held in major centres and small towns across South Africa. Over 40 000 bikers and their friends are expected to turn out across the country on Sunday 25th November.

Last year, some 40 500 toys were collected for distribution from the Johannesburg run alone.

Toy Run is a registered organisation. The Johannesburg Run is administered by a non-profit (Section 21) company in Joeys, whilst the Bloemfontein and Cape Town Runs are administered by Charity Toy Run Trusts.
