Oyster, Wine and Food Festival

Taking place from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th June 2006

The opportunity to sample a variety of fine estate wines, succulent oysters and other delicious fare awaits visitors to the Oyster, Wine & Food Festival. Taking place at The Brightwater Commons from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th June 2006, the festival will open from 9am to 6pm daily. Also forming part of the event will be cooking demonstrations, a wine auction, and Cotland's 70th Birthday celebration.

Whilst food and wine lovers stroll across the commons sampling wines from prominent estates, mouth-watering oysters and other tasty treats ranging from pastries, preserves and premium imported beer to cheeses, olives and deli foods; would be cooks can enjoy demonstrations by expert chefs. The art of making sushi, creative rice dishes and ice sculpting will be amongst the fascinating demos taking place on the centre's promotions stage.

For wine aficionados, there'll be a wine auction in the centre's promotions court on the Saturday with all proceeds going to Cotlands - a non-profit organisation that strives to meet the needs of children impacted by HIV Aids in our country. This will take place after an exhilarating 'cook-off' featuring some of South Africa's top celebrities. Whilst moms and dads indulge their taste-buds, children can delight in a variety of fun physical activities in the "Let's Play" area hosted by Supersport who'll also be broadcasting live from the centre on the day

The festival's highlight will be the 70th birthday celebration of Cotlands; celebratory activities will take place on Friday 16th June (Youth Day) when the festival opens. The public are invited to join in this celebration on the commons as Cotlands pays tribute to its supporters and launches its national "Raising a Nation" campaign.

As the festival draws to a close on the Sunday, visitors will be treated to a live jazz performance by "Spit and Polish" compliments of Classic Fm. The 5-piece brass ensemble will entertain audiences with a variety of popular jazz numbers and creative classical arrangements on the centre's promotions stage between 2pm and 4pm. Visitors can picnic on the commons as they enjoy this last day of the festival. Picnic baskets complete with fare can be rented from certain tenants of the centre.

The Oyster, Wine & Food Festival will be held in conjunction with Cotlands, the CIA (Chefs in Action) and Full Volume Promotions.
