Play with us at The Brightwater Commons

Free ‘bum-boarding’, fabric painting, poi (ribbon dancing) workshops, a Hip Hop dance show preview and a foam bash will be some of the exciting activities that can be enjoyed by children at The Brightwater Commons on Saturday 3rd April 2004. Other activities taking place between 11am and 2pm will include a Kwanjangnim (martial art) class, making picture frames, a carousel ride and bumper cars.

Kids can experience the fun of ‘bum-boarding’ at the Tiffindell Snowboard & Ski shop with free ten-minute sessions of the sport where thrill seekers, seated on a disc, can whiz down a mini-slope. For those who enjoy arts and crafts - fabric painting, making picture frames and colouring in can be enjoyed with the Box Shop. Another interesting activity is poi –similar to ribbon dancing. Workshops will be held in the promotions court for a fee of R50. Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting Diana on 082 805 8577. Those interested, but requiring poi ribbons can purchase these on the day.

Also present will be the Kim Field Dance Academy that’ll introduce visitors to Hip Hop with some of their talented students. Grand Master Lee of the Kwanjangnim Dojang invites kids of all ages to join his martial arts class on the grassy commons. There’ll be two prizes of a month’s free training for two children that show the most enthusiasm and shout the loudest!

The day’s highlight will be a foam bash. In an effort to create fire safety awareness, the Randburg Fire Station will bring their fire truck and hose down the commons with heaps of foam for little ones to frolic in. The department will also be presenting its ‘Learn not to Burn’ programme where children can learn about fire safety tips and the special ‘10177’ number to be contacted for fire emergencies.

For tiny tots, there’ll be a dough table outside of Ladder of Learning where little fingers can be kept busy.
