Dare to Scare - Trick or treat with us this Halloween!

29 October, 4pm-9pm
Little ‘monsters’, ‘witches’ and ‘werewolves’ can join The Brightwater Commons for an exciting celebration of Halloween on Friday 29th October 2004. The sizzling variety of activities will include ‘trick-n’-treating’; a fun magic show, Piñata bashing, a spectacular trapeze act, a carnival parade and cool “Dare to Scare” competition for the best dressed visitor.

The fun will begin from around 4pm when little “tricksters” come ‘trick-n’-treating’ and the tenants of the centre bring out sweet treats for little ones. And whilst a fun magic show taking place between 5pm and 6pm on the promotional stage, is certain to delight young visitors; the Piñata bashing between 6pm and 7pm is not to be missed! Take a broom and have a whack at the ten Piñatas filled with sweets in the promotional tent and fill the little pockets, buckets and paper-bags with delectable ‘winnings’.

An amazing trapeze act - the only act of its kind in the world will start around 7:15pm. To be performed by Duo Sapphire Trapeze Acts on the promotional stage, this spine-tingling feat will take place 10m in the air. Certain to have audiences agape, its breathtaking finale will be a 360-degree revolve without the use of any safety nets or devices!

Once audiences have ‘recovered’ from the suspense of this thrilling performance, the colourful carnival parade will begin. Featuring drummers, fire jugglers, poi ribbon dancers, bagpipes, a saxophone… and of course all the little ‘vampires’, ‘monsters’ and ‘witches’, the vibrant procession will begin on the commons around 7:30pm. Children may even meet their favourite YOTV presenters, who’ll be joining in the fun as the parade moves through the centre.

The exciting evening will culminate in the judging of the “Dare to Scare” competition for the best dressed boy and girl. There will be three categories in this fun competition – one for children under age 6, one for children under 13 years of age and one for teenagers and adults. Each winner will receive R500 worth of gift vouchers from The Brightwater Commons.
