Archive 2003Festive Fun at The Brightwater CommonsLoads of fun activities await little fairies, elves and gnomes at The Brightwater Commons this festive season. Created around an enchanted gardens theme activities will take place from 12 noon to 4pm each day from Friday 12th to Tuesday 23rd December 2003. Poi (ribbon dancing) workshops, candle dipping, funky animal puppets, story telling, fun with musical instruments, dressing up, face painting, playing games, and creative craft workshops are some of the activities included. Workshops will be approximately 45 minutes to an hour each. Making fairy and elf costumes that can be worn in the gardens; making music with drums, bells and shakers; poi and story telling will be some of the delights on Friday 12th and Saturday 20th December. Meet ‘Prince Eagle Eye’ and ‘Princess Mountain Dreamer’ who’ll turn you into any magical creature you want to be with face painting; or join the Selfish Giant and Happy Prince who’ll bring your favourite classical stories to life. Create your very own castle complete with towers, stairs, walls and bridges to show mom and dad; play a guitar, do the Rumble Tumble Jungle Dance (children’s aerobic exercises) or enjoy a Treasure Hunt on 13th, 17th and 21st December. Taking place on 14th, 18th and 23rd December will be The Brightwater Commons Game Show with hula-hoop and skipping rope fun, plus lots of prizes up for grabs. Children can also have a go at the bagpipes and meet some of Africa’s favourite ‘animals’! Learn how to make Christmas gifts, sing songs from magical lands or learn the Irish Jig on 15th, 19th and 23rd December. Other colourful activities will include making fairy wings, wands, goblin shoes, hats and elf ears, dream catchers, faerie chimes and juggling. Fairies and elves of all ages looking for fun these festive holidays can enter the enchanted garden at The Brightwater Commons from 12th to 23rd December. Meet and make lots of new friends, come dressed-up and let your imagination go wild. Whilst children delight in the heaps of fun activities moms and dads can enjoy the Artists on the Commons Exhibition in support of Artists Against Abuse.
